The Saqqara Step

"The Architecture of Ascent."

Before the smooth slopes of Giza, there was Saqqara. The ancients built their first stairway to the sky in layers of stone, creating the Step Pyramid. The Saqqara Step is a woven tribute to this architectural miracle.

This rug is defined by its disciplined, horizontal tiered design. Alternating bands of warm cocoa earth and limestone cream create a rhythmic structure that grounds a room instantly. Within each band, intricate geometric diamonds are raised in textured relief, mimicking the ornate carvings found in the oldest temple complexes.

The Details

The Structure

A distinct Layered Stripe design. Wide horizontal bands create a ladder-like effect that visually widens the room.

The Palette

Cocoa & Cream. A rich contrast between deep earth tones and soft, pale wool. A classic, masculine combination.

The Vibe

Grounded, historical, and deeply architectural. It brings an aura of ancient stability to contemporary spaces.

The Heritage

Inspired by the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the earliest colossal stone building in Egypt. Woven using techniques passed down through generations.

Commission Notes

"The precision required for the layered stripe design is immense. The weaver must maintain perfect tension to keep the horizontal bands straight and the geometric relief crisp across the entire width of the loom. You are commissioning a masterclass in loom control."
